Lorna Manning (nee Watling)

Born Lorna Watling in Derby in 1915, Lorna Manning, Jenny's mother, grew up on the Norfolk coast. She and her father, Meredith Watling, moved to Cambridge when World War Two broke out. She worked there as a window dresser and then in the GPO drawing office until after her marriage to David Manning in 1942. Their daughter Jenny was born in 1946. Lorna died of ovarian cancer in 1967, aged 52.
